FIRST RETAIL PRODUCTION 2023 CORVETTE Z06 CONVERTIBLE RAISES $1 MILLION FOR TMCF

FIRST RETAIL PRODUCTION 2023 CORVETTE Z06 CONVERTIBLE RAISES $1 MILLION FOR TMCF

EST PALM BEACH, Fla. – The first retail production 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 convertible raised $1 million for the Thurgood Marshall College Fund at the Barrett-Jackson Palm Beach Auction on April 9. This auction and the sale of the first retail production 2023 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 70th Anniversary Edition in January bring the total amount of money raised for charity by the 2023 Corvette Z06 to $4.6 million in 2022.

The 2023 Corvette Z06, which offers the highest-horsepower naturally aspirated V-8 of any production car, drove onto the world-famous auction block in support of the TMCF’s Teacher Quality & Retention Program. Representatives from TMCF, the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing Historically Black Colleges and Universities and Predominantly Black Institutions, were at the auction to experience this exciting moment in the organization’s history.

One hundred percent of the winning bid from Rick Hendrick, chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group and owner of 14-time NASCAR Cup Series champions Hendrick Motorsports, benefits the organization’s TQRP, a training initiative that helps aspiring K-12 educators develop their skills for success in challenging teaching environments. Hendrick will also have the opportunity to customize the first retail production Corvette Z06 convertible. This includes the selection of everything, from the body color to the shade of the brake calipers.

“The 2022 Palm Beach Auction is a community event that we are very proud to be associated with,” said Dr. Harry L. Williams, president & CEO of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. “Through the generous support of GM, Chevrolet and Barrett-Jackson, we raised a significant amount of funds and awareness of our TQRP initiative, which provides opportunities for students of color in the K-12 educational environment and beyond.”

“General Motors and Chevrolet are honored to support the Thurgood Marshall College Fund on its mission to empower students and educators for success,” said Scott Bell, Chevrolet global vice president. “The proceeds from this sale of the first retail production Corvette Z06 convertible will support high-caliber training for future educators studying at HBCUs and PBIs across the nation.”

2023 Corvette 70th Anniversary Package Revealed by GM

    https://www.corvettestoreonline.com/search?q=c8+z06

Earlier this week GM gave Corvette owners and enthusiasts alike much to look forward to following the official reveal of a special 70th Anniversary package coming to the 2023 C8 Corvette. The package commemorates 7 decades of an American Classic that has stolen the hearts of people around the globe and will be available as an optional purchase with all Corvette models, including the Stingray and Z06.

The first upgrade comes in the form of the famous Corvette crossflags emblem that has been updated to include a nod to the Corvette's 70th Anniversary (as seen above).  This badge will adorn all 2023 models regardless of package or car, and will be utilized on the vehicle in conjunction with a commemorative 70th Anniversary logo that will be included on the lower rear window.

The special edition 70th Anniversary package's exterior details include new colors White Pearl Metallic Tri-Coat and Carbon Flash Metallic, with optional gray and black racing stripes.  These light and dark tones are sure to make a splash, and will be accented through classic red vehicle trim and brake calipers. Stingray owners can expect to find red engine covers included in their variation of the package. All new wheels will feature a sleek design including commemorative center caps and a red accenting stripe.  Last but not least, rear bumper protectors and trunk covers will also be included with the package.

With regard to the interior, owners will be given the option of Ceramic Leather GT2, or Competition sport seats complete with red stitching and complimentary red seatbelts.  A commemorative 70th Anniversary plaque adorns the center speaker grille on all models and serves as a powerful reminder of the Corvette legacy.  As an added bonus, the package also features a limited-edition custom luggage set featuring red stitching and the 70th Anniversary badge logo making it the perfect accessory for the Corvette owner who is always on the go!

Though pricing is not yet available on the 70th Anniversary Package, the 2023 C8 is expected to hit the showroom floor in late 2022.  If the 70th Anniversary package isn’t quite in your price range, have no fear, all 2023 Corvette models will commemorate the historic anniversary with a 70th Anniversary badge and interior plaque.

You can catch a first glimpse at the all-new 2023 Corvette when the first model off the production line rolls across the auction block at Barrett Jackson’s collector car auction from Scottsdale, Arizona January 29th on the History Channel.

Possible Color Options for 2022 C8 Corvette

Possible Color Options for 2022 C8 Corvette

The possible color options for the 2022 C8 Corvette have been revealed through a report obtained by CorvetteBlogger. Three of the existing color options are likely to be dropped for the 2022 model according to Chevrolet. The retired color options include Sebring Orange, Shadow Gray, and Zeus Bronze. Motor1.com reached out to confirm this information with Chevrolet and received the following response:

We notified Chevy dealers that we intend to discontinue a few exterior paint colors on Corvette at the end of 2021 model year. This was done so they could provide accurate information to customers who are interested in ordering a 2021 Corvette so customers can get the color they want while still available. At this time, we are not providing specific details on color options for model year 2022. Those options will be communicated to dealers closer to the time of 2022 model year ordering.

Sebring Orange and Zeus Bronze will be able to be requested through April 29th, 2021, while Shadow Gray will be available to order through May 27th, 2021.

While solid details about the 2022 color options likely won't be confirmed until July, when Chevy plans to release the first official details on the Corvette C8 Z06, the CorvetteBlogger source did share what we can anticipate. There is a strong likelihood that we will see one brand new color, as well as replacements for Sebring Orange and Shadow gray.

The information was obtained from the European Corvette Dealer's website where they shared some of the color options that will be offered. The paint choices are listed out as: Amplify Orange Tintcoat, Hypersonic Gray Metallic, and Caffeine Brown Metallic. These are the internal names used by General Motors and we can expect these colors to debut with names different than those listed above.

The 2022 C8 Corvette: What to Expect

The 2022 C8 Corvette: What to Expect

The evolution of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette will no doubt be a fascinating one to watch. While rumblings of various models start to swirl around the internet, will it be the Z06, ZR1, or the Zora model that we see next? Details from a recent Motor Trend report via an anonymous source tip us off to what we can expect out of the 2022 C8.

According to the anonymous source, we should expect to see five different C8 models over the next four years. The Z06 is rumored to join us for 2022, while the ZR1 and PHEV models are expected in 2023. The EV model will debut in 2024, and finally, the Zora model is rumored to arrive as a 2025 model.

The Z06 will likely sport a naturally aspirated engine with a 5.5 liter flat-plane crank V8 under the hood with up to 625 horsepower. Rumor has it that optional carbon-fiber wheels will be offered with this model, along with carbon-ceramic brakes and high-performance tires. Expect the Z06 to debut with a base price in the $80,000 range.

The Motor Trend report goes on to detail the 2023 ZR1, which will likely feature the same 5.5 liter V8 as the Z06, with some additional turbochargers. With up to 850 horsepower, this model is going to be an absolute powerhouse. Pricing will likely start in the $120,000 range with a variety of additional add-on features.

In addition to the ZR1 model, 2023 seems like it's geared up to be the Corvette fanatic's best year yet, with the likely debut of the first ever hybrid version. Also packing a 5.5 liter V8 under the rear hood, the hybrid model will sport a pair of electric motors connected to the front axel. Horsepower for the hybrid edition is predicted to be somewhere between the Z06 and ZR1, at approximately 700-HP. Base models are rumored to start at $100,000.

An all-electric model is also in the works, taking the hybrid version up a notch for the 2024 model. There will be an additional motor in the rear, along with a larger battery pack. Although details are limited right now, it's rumored that the all-electric model will pack 500 horsepower with a range of 200 miles in the $100,000+ range.

The pinnacle of the C8 series will no doubt be the 2025 Zora model. While it's been rumored for many years now, this will be the most incredible Corvette ever built. It will feature a combination of the twin-turbo V-8 engine from the ZR1 with the hybrid system of the E-Ray, producing in excess of 1,000 horsepower. Base models will start around $150,000.

The First 2020 Mid-Engine Corvettes Are Here

The First 2020 Mid-Engine Corvettes Are Here

The first 2020 Corvette C8 cars are now heading to Chevy showrooms across the country. With production kicking off on February 3rd, we've been anxiously awaiting the first arrivals of the mid-engine sports car. A blurry video clip shows 4 transporters carrying 2020 Corvettes on March 4th from the Bowling Green, KY plant.

Back in January, the VIN 001 sold for $3 million at the Barrett-Jackson auction. The winner of the first mid-engine Corvette, Rick Hendrick (owner of Hendrick Motorsports and founder of Hendrick Automotive Group), recently took delivery of the car at his dealership in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Although the vehicle at the Barrett-Jackson auction was a red prototype, the actual VIN 001 is a black-on-black 2020 Corvette Stingray coupe. It comes loaded with the Z51 performance pack, which includes a 6.2 liter V08 rated at 495 horsepower, with the ability to reach 60 mph in under 3 seconds.
Proceeds from the $3 million sale benefited the Detroit Children's Fund, helping with educational resources across Detroit.
Production was initially expected to begin towards the end of 2019 but was pushed back due to the strike last fall at the Bowling Green plant. Now that production has begun, you have your chance to own the new mid-engine sports car for just $59,995. Production on the convertible option is expected to begin soon.
Now that the 2020 Corvette C8 is headed to showrooms, it's time to start stocking up on your C8 gear, especially if your Corvette is one of those being delivered soon. We are excited to now offer C8 Covercraft car covers, a great way to protect your investment both indoors and outdoors. We also have a full line of C8 gear, including apparel, glassware, art, bags, and more. This is a great way to show your loyalty to America's favorite sports car.
