    Corvette Sub-Brand EV SUV & Four-Door Expected in 2025 | CorvetteStoreOnline.com

There’s big news brewing in Detroit!  The next era for the Corvette is on the horizon as "America’s Sports Car" looks to become America’s Sports Car Sub-brand.  For decades the Corvette’s legacy has been defined by a vehicle itself, not necessarily its Chevrolet lineage.  In 2025 reports indicate that’s all about to change as the Corvette namesake is expected to transcend from not just a Chevrolet vehicle, but its own sub-brand featuring electric SUVs and four-door vehicles.

The move to a line of Corvette-branded models brings Chevrolet’s most illustrious name more in line with the likes of fellow renowned sports car brands such as Ferrari, BMW, and Lamborghini who all offer their own luxury-sport SUVs and cross over vehicles.  The move also brings the C8 Corvette Stingray & Z06 one step closer to long-rumored electrification.

You might be asking what this means, and what it means for the future of the Corvette you’ve come to know and love. Make no mistake - the new vehicles coming in 2025 won’t be SUVs branded as model variations of the Corvette they’ll simply be a Corvette-brand vehicle of their own namesake.  The idea is to offer the same power and performance you'd find in the parent Chevrolet Corvette in these unnamed vehicles without tarnishing the legacy of an icon.  Simply put, just as Chevrolet is to Corvette, Corvette will soon be to the new unnamed models.

While it’s understandable that this dramatic direction shift in the Corvette timeline might cause some concern for long time owners on the surface, there’s nothing to worry about - the traditional Stingray, Z06 and accompanying Corvette models aren’t going anywhere – the classic Chevrolet Corvette will continue to hold its reign as “America’s Sports Car.”

Reports from a recently posted article by Car and Driver indicate that the new electric vehicles will feature “[a] mechanical package apparently [including] battery packs with high energy density, superfast software, a patented cooling concept, staggered Lego-like topographic packaging, miniaturized componentry, ultra-efficient inverters, high-revving electric motors, an 800-volt electrical system that provides up to 350 kW of charging power, a two-speed transmission, brake-by-wire, multi-mode four-wheel steering, and torque vectoring.” The article also states that initial proposals for the new Corvette branded vehicles are being revered as "copies of nothing" and "encapsulated emotional purity.”  Given recent failed attempts by competitor rebrands, this news is certainly a welcome development!

No official announcements have been made by GM and no timeline for a reveal has been made available as of the posting of this blog, but the excitement behind this expected news is palpable.  The future of the Corvette brand is bright and opens the door to infinite future innovation possibilities.
