Fan Friday: Robert Dilts's 2016 Torch Red C7 Stingray

Fan Friday: Robert Dilts's 2016 Torch Red C7 Stingray

Robert Dilts came from a Mercedes-Benz SL550. A beautiful car, no question — but not his. The moment he drove his 2016 Corvette Stingray home, he knew he'd made the right call.

The photos tell that story clearly. What appears to be Torch Red — Corvette's most iconic and enduring color, offered continuously since 1989 — sits on a car that Robert has clearly made his own. The ground effects and body kit are installed, the spoiler is fitted, and the chrome throughout the engine bay has been detailed by hand. The fender hash marks and blacked-out hood accents give the exterior a purposeful, two-tone contrast that makes the red work even harder. Chrome multi-spoke wheels with red calipers visible through the spokes tie the whole package together — clean, confident, and distinctly C7.

Torch Red was the third most popular color on the 2016 Corvette at 15% of total production, and it's easy to understand why: there is simply no color more associated with the Corvette name globally. Across the entire C7 generation from 2014 to 2019, Torch Red was chosen by 29,758 buyers — a number that speaks to how universally right the combination of this shape and this color looks in person. What it doesn't tell you is how good it looks when the owner actually puts in the work. Robert's does. The 2016 Stingray also marked the last year before the Grand Sport rejoined the C7 lineup in 2017, making it a clean, undiluted Stingray year — powered by the LT1 6.2-liter V8 producing 455 horsepower and 460 lb-ft of torque, with a flat-bottom steering wheel introduced that year directly inspired by the C7.R race car's own wheel. It's a car that rewards being appreciated in the details, and Robert clearly agrees. 🏎️

For Robert's Torch Red Stingray

C7 Corvette Seat Armor Protection Bundle — Robert's already put serious work into this car inside and out. The Seat Armor bundle protects that interior investment with a fitted seat cover, steering wheel cover, console cover, and trunk towel/bumper cover — all with the Corvette logo, all in seconds. The kind of thing an owner who takes pride in his car adds before he does anything else. → Shop Seat Armor Bundle

C7 2014–2019 Corvette Custom Painted Trunk Shock Covers with Logo Option — Robert mentioned detailing chrome throughout his engine bay. The trunk shock covers are exactly the kind of detail that rewards that kind of attention — color-matched or chrome finished, made to order, and a noticeable upgrade every time the hood or hatch opens. → Shop Trunk Shock Covers

C7 Corvette Stingray Staydry Hat — A clean, daily-wear cap with an embroidered C7 Stingray emblem, moisture-wicking fabric, and a low-profile fit. Available in red — which, on a Torch Red Stingray, feels exactly right. → Shop Stingray Staydry Hat
