The evolution of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette will no doubt be a fascinating one to watch. While rumblings of various models start to swirl around the internet, will it be the Z06, ZR1, or the Zora model that we see next? Details from a recent Motor Trend report via an anonymous source tip us off to what we can expect out of the 2022 C8.

According to the anonymous source, we should expect to see five different C8 models over the next four years. The Z06 is rumored to join us for 2022, while the ZR1 and PHEV models are expected in 2023. The EV model will debut in 2024, and finally, the Zora model is rumored to arrive as a 2025 model.

The Z06 will likely sport a naturally aspirated engine with a 5.5 liter flat-plane crank V8 under the hood with up to 625 horsepower. Rumor has it that optional carbon-fiber wheels will be offered with this model, along with carbon-ceramic brakes and high-performance tires. Expect the Z06 to debut with a base price in the $80,000 range. 

The Motor Trend report goes on to detail the 2023 ZR1, which will likely feature the same 5.5 liter V8 as the Z06, with some additional turbochargers. With up to 850 horsepower, this model is going to be an absolute powerhouse. Pricing will likely start in the $120,000 range with a variety of additional add-on features.

In addition to the ZR1 model, 2023 seems like it's geared up to be the Corvette fanatic's best year yet, with the likely debut of the first ever hybrid version. Also packing a 5.5 liter V8 under the rear hood, the hybrid model will sport a pair of electric motors connected to the front axel. Horsepower for the hybrid edition is predicted to be somewhere between the Z06 and ZR1, at approximately 700-HP. Base models are rumored to start at $100,000.

An all-electric model is also in the works, taking the hybrid version up a notch for the 2024 model. There will be an additional motor in the rear, along with a larger battery pack. Although details are limited right now, it's rumored that the all-electric model will pack 500 horsepower with a range of 200 miles in the $100,000+ range.

The pinnacle of the C8 series will no doubt be the 2025 Zora model. While it's been rumored for many years now, this will be the most incredible Corvette ever built. It will feature a combination of the twin-turbo V-8 engine from the ZR1 with the hybrid system of the E-Ray, producing in excess of 1,000 horsepower. Base models will start around $150,000.

The first 2020 Corvette C8 cars are now heading to Chevy showrooms across the country. With production kicking off on February 3rd, we've been anxiously awaiting the first arrivals of the mid-engine sports car. A blurry video clip shows 4 transporters carrying 2020 Corvettes on March 4th from the Bowling Green, KY plant. 

When the 2020 Chevrolet Corvette debuted in Orange County, California, GM President, Mark Reuss, announced the pricing would start "under $60,000". This morning we learned that it really does start below $60,000 with a base price of $59,995.

Chevy released a full pricing guide Thursday morning, and here's what we've learned.

With the 1LT model starting at $59,995, the mid-engine sports car comes in just $3,000 above its front-engine predecessor. 

The 2020 Corvette has three trim packages with increasing levels of equipment. Chevy states, "1LT is the car for driving purists who want the lightest Stingray possible, but one that's still very well equipped." It comes with a Bose premium 10-speaker system, standard 8-way power GT1 seats, driver mode selector, and all-season performance tires. It also comes in 8 standard exterior colors, with the option to upgrade to 4 additional colors. Next up, the 2LT, starting at $67,295. Chevy states, "2LT adds a number of comfort and convenience features in addition to color-matched interior options." The 2LT comes with everything the 1LT does, plus additional interior options, Bose Performance Series 14-speaker audio system, heated/vented seats and a heated steering wheel, the option for GT2 seats in Napa leather, as well as head-up display and PDR. 

Finally, the 3LT model "is the utmost in luxury performance, with a leather-wrapped interior," according to Chevy. It comes with everything the 2LT comes with, plus 13 interior color options, a custom leather-wrapped instrument panel and door, suede microfiber upper interior trim, and standard GT2 seats in Napa leather. The 3LT starts at $71,945.

The Next Generation Corvette is finally here! However, GM reports that now it's almost gone, with the 2020 allocation being nearly sold out. 

"I think the orders have already hit the first year of production numbers," said Michael Simcoe, GM design chief. "It’s nearly sold out. It’s so close that it’s bound to be sold out soon."

The Mid-Engine Corvette made its official debut on July 18th, 2019 in Orange County, California. The debut highlighted the history of the Corvette with a nod toward the future with a completely redesigned 'Vette. In case you missed it, you can watch the debut below.

Now for the specs. The mid-engine Stingray is the fastest and most powerful entry-level Corvette ever released. It's also the first without a manual transmission. Chevy announced it will do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds with the Z51 Performance Package, keeping it in the running with the earliest Bugatti Veyron-- clear evidence of the potential of the mid-engine placement.

Much of the acceleration capacity can be accredited to the transmission. The Next Generation Corvette is the first 'Vette to offer a dual-clutch automatic, an eight-speed unit designed by Tremec. With this being the only transmission option available, it's the first time in history you won't be able to get a manual transmission in a new Corvette. However, the dual-clutch allows for a very low first gear and close ratios between gears two through six.

“With all the excitement around this vehicle, we don’t want people to have to wait to experience it in person,” said Engle. “Our national tours will bring the Next Generation car right to our customers’ local Chevrolet dealership, where they can start imagining themselves in their very own personalized mid-engine Corvette.”
