What these are made of

Corvette bodies are painted at the GM assembly plant in Bowling Green, Kentucky, and over the course of that process the paint builds up in layers. Those layers get reclaimed rather than thrown out, then cut across and polished, and what shows is a cross-section of the colors that came through the paint shop — reds, blues, silvers and yellows banded together like stone. Collectors have prized the Ford version of this for years under the name Fordite. The Corvette version has its own name: Corvite, sometimes written Corvettite.

Every piece here is set with a slice of it. Because each slice is cut separately, the pattern is different every time, which is why no two pieces in this collection are the same and why what arrives will not match the photo exactly.

The settings around the Corvite are sterling silver, 18k gold-plated sterling silver, gold-plated brass or stainless steel, depending on the piece and the option you choose. Three of them — the keychain, the lapel pin and the charm pendant — carry the Corvette crossed flags over the paint. The rest let the material speak for itself.

Rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, cuff links and a tie clip, alongside a keychain, a lapel pin, a ballpoint pen, a golf divot tool and pieces for the bar. All officially licensed by General Motors, and all cut and finished by hand in Detroit by Rebel Nell, which has made its pieces there since 2013 and hires and trains women facing barriers to employment.
