Fan Friday: Bryan Pennycuff's 2012 Centennial Edition Grand Sport

Bryan Pennycuff has been a Corvette nut since he was eight years old. Growing up, he had the rare privilege of looking after three different Corvettes that belonged to other people — getting to drive them, care for them, and hand them back at the end of the day every single time. That kind of access builds something most enthusiasts never get: a genuine, hands-on understanding of what makes each generation special, long before you ever own one yourself.

Bryan bought his first Corvette on July 18, 2020 — a base model 2008. It was a meaningful milestone after years of borrowed time behind other people's wheels. But Bryan kept moving. On September 4, 2023, he traded that car for a 2011 3LT Grand Sport. He didn't keep it long. Just over three months later, on December 14, 2023, he traded again — this time for the car he calls his dream Corvette: a 2012 Centennial Edition Grand Sport with 10,710 miles on the odometer.

That trade put Bryan into genuinely rare company. The 2012 Centennial Edition was a one-year-only package created to celebrate Chevrolet's 100th anniversary, and it came exclusively in Carbon Flash Metallic — a deep graphite-black finish that wasn't available in any other configuration that year. Chevrolet built 11,647 Corvettes total in 2012, and only 2,201 of them — about 19% — wore the Centennial Edition package across all body styles and trims combined. Narrow that down to Bryan's exact configuration, the Grand Sport Coupe, and the number drops to just 1,040 units ever produced. Every Centennial Edition carries a Louis Chevrolet "100th Anniversary" emblem on the B-pillar, satin black wheels paired with red brake calipers, and an Ebony leather interior with microfiber suede accents and red stitching — details that show up clearly in Bryan's freshly detailed photos, the Carbon Flash finish catching every line of light in the shop. Bryan recently picked up a color-matched touch-up paint kit to keep that finish perfect, which tells you everything about how seriously he takes ownership of this one. From three borrowed Corvettes as a kid to one of only 1,040 ever built — that's a dream realized the right way. 🏎️
