Fan Friday: Karen Thompson’s 2016 Stingray Z51 2LT
This week’s CorvetteStoreOnline.com Fan Friday highlights a Corvette that’s built for thrills, courtesy of Karen Thompson from Wadsworth, Ohio!
Karen’s 2016 Stingray Z51 2LT Convertible is more than just a Corvette — it’s a statement of passion, independence, and creativity. This is Karen’s second Corvette, and it carries a special meaning: it was bought for a woman, by a woman, and updated with designs envisioned by a woman.
The 2016 model year sits in the middle of the seventh-generation (C7) Corvette lineup, a generation that introduced bold new styling, advanced technology, and world-class performance. Under the hood, the Stingray is powered by the 6.2L LT1 V8, producing 455 horsepower — bumped to 460 hp with the performance exhaust option. With the Z51 package, Karen’s car benefits from performance upgrades like dry-sump lubrication, larger brakes, electronic limited-slip differential, and an upgraded suspension system. These factory enhancements make the Z51 Stingray as capable on the track as it is on the street.
From its Black exterior and bold Z51 package, to the unique personalized updates added in late 2024, this Stingray radiates individuality. The most eye-catching details are the custom blue Z51 graphics and hood decal, giving Karen’s Corvette a one-of-a-kind identity among the crowd. Complemented by red brake calipers, polished wheels, and a convertible top, the car perfectly blends factory performance with personal flair.
Karen doesn’t enjoy this Corvette experience alone. She is part of the Buckeye Corvette Club, where she and three of her gal friends proudly share their enthusiasm, often hearing their spouses say, “Go have fun.” With her husband devoted to his 1966 Pontiac GTOs, Karen’s Stingray has become her own automotive pride and joy — a Corvette that represents both community and individuality.
