Fan Friday: Mike Casper's 2024 Red Mist Metallic Z06

Fan Friday: Mike Casper's 2024 Red Mist Metallic Z06

Mike Casper bought his 2024 Z06 on Friday the 13th of December 2024. He says he's had nothing but good luck ever since — and looking at this build, it's hard to argue.

Based in Wisconsin, Mike's Z06 is finished in Red Mist Metallic Tintcoat — a $995 premium factory color that appeared on only about 10% of all 2024 Z06s built. Under good light, it's a deep, complex red with a metallic shimmer that reads completely differently than a standard solid red. Paired with the Natural interior visible through the open scissor-lift doors, and contrasted against carbon fiber on virtually every surface, the combination is striking. Mike didn't just pick a color — he picked one of the better ones available.

The carbon fiber list on this car is extensive, and most of it came from right here: carbon fiber targa top roof panel, carbon fiber bottom mirror trim covers, carbon fiber wind diffuser, carbon fiber Z06 license plate backing, carbon fiber gas cap cover, and polished stainless perforated rear hood vent inserts. The factory color-matched access covers are finished in Red Mist to blend seamlessly into the bodywork, and the etched logo frunk panel with brushed trim ring adds a custom touch up front that most people don't notice until they're standing right next to the car. Every piece chosen intentionally. Every piece integrated so well that from a distance it just reads as a cohesive, purpose-built machine — which is exactly how Mike describes it.

Then there are the doors, which hinge straight up in full scissor fashion and stop foot traffic every time they open. And the vanity plate: ITFLYS2 — which, once you've heard the LT6 at 8,600 rpm, makes complete sense. That flat-plane crank V8 produces 670 horsepower naturally aspirated, making it the most powerful naturally aspirated V8 ever put into a production car, and each one is hand-assembled by a single craftsman at GM's Performance Build Center in Bowling Green and signed with a personalized builder plaque. Mike found out exactly what it's capable of when he lined up against someone at a race. The other driver said he was just there — and then he disappeared. Red Ghost. The name stuck. Thanks for sharing this one with us, Mike — and here's to many more Friday the 13ths. 🏎️

Super fine looking vette. Definitely a
badass ride. I have a 1981 two-tone vette,
Dark metallic bronze and beige on top. Only 62,100 mi on it with 20in gold plated rims. I get as much hp out of it with true dual exhaust and a rebuilt carbon. But that red misted c8 is a absolute beauty. That owner must feel like a million bucks when he slips into the seat.Bye for now.

That’s my kind of wing!!! I’m a wing nut anyway, bigger is better. Reminds me to hang my laundry out LOL. Beautiful ride my friend!!!

Thankyou for the excellent write up of my car’s story. It’s still a work in progress but I know where to get the right parts to finish the story. Again thankyou.
