Exhaust Buying Guide
Axle-Back vs. Cat-Back vs. Valve-Back vs. Long-Tube Headers: An axle-back replaces only the mufflers and tips from the rear axle back — easiest install, most affordable entry point. A cat-back replaces everything from the catalytic converter back for greater flow and more sound. A valve-back (common on C7) retains and integrates the factory NPP valves. Long-tube headers replace the exhaust manifolds and X-pipe for maximum power gains, typically requiring professional installation.
NPP & AFM Valve Fitment (C6/C7): Many C6 and C7 Corvettes came with NPP (Normal/Performance/Quiet) and AFM (Active Fuel Management) exhaust valves. Confirm whether the system you’re buying includes, excludes, or bypasses these valves. Borla is especially specific on this — always verify your vehicle’s exact equipment before ordering.
Sound Level Guide by Brand: Borla offers Touring (subtle), S-Type (classic), and ATAK® (aggressive). CORSA offers Sport (drone-free daily driver) and Xtreme (track-aggressive).
