Welcome back to another edition of "Fan Friday" at CorvetteStoreOnline.com! This week, we're thrilled to spotlight Cindy Hunnicutt of Newnan, Georgia. Cindy's story was submitted by her loving husband of 38 years, Steve. When we saw it, we knew it had to be shared! Cindy, a proud member of the Peach State Corvette Association, owns and drives "Betty," a 60th Anniversary Grand Sport 4LT power convertible in Supersonic Blue with the Z51 sport package.
Cindy's Corvette story is truly remarkable. Just short of a year ago, she received the ultimate birthday gift: a 60th Anniversary Grand Sport for her 60th birthday. Another member of their Corvette Club owned this exact car, and Cindy had always told Steve that if the owners ever sold it, she wanted him to get it!

Knowing their peers weren't selling anytime soon, Steve spent much of his free time searching for this car. After many disappointments, opportunity finally struck. Steve found sellers in Idaho, a couple named Ron and Betty. However, upon reaching out, Steve learned that the car had already been sold. Despite this, Steve established a connection with Ron and kept in touch. Two months later, fate offered a second chance—Ron informed Steve that the prospective buyer had backed out at the last second, and the car was available. Steve immediately purchased the car, had it shipped from Idaho, and prepped it for a special reveal with the help of his Club President.
To reveal his gift to his wife, Steve invited some of their closest friends and members of the Corvette Club to join them. Unsurprisingly, Cindy absolutely loved it, and how could she not? Cindy named the car Betty in honor of the previous owner's impeccable taste. Steve recalls that the reveal was met with cheers and tears from everyone in the club. He unveiled Cindy's gift in front of the crowd, including an editor from Vettes of Atlanta Magazine, who even wrote a story on the occasion, talk about a memorable birthday!
Steve and Cindy still stay in touch with Ron and Betty, sharing photos of their trips, show awards, and more. Ron and Betty couldn't be happier with who they sold their Corvette to. Now, with just over 4,000 miles on it, Cindy is fully enjoying the Corvette experience. And let's not forget Steve, who is enjoying life in his 2019 Stingray.
