- The Crankshaft Position Sensor (CKP) monitors the crankshaft rotational speed and position and relays the information to the engine control module. It is responsible for synchronizing the four stork combustion process and controlling ignition system timing. If your position sensor is not functioning properly it can cause your Corvette to throw a check engine light and prevent the vehicle from starting.
