The evolution of the C8 Chevrolet Corvette will no doubt be a fascinating one to watch. While rumblings of various models start to swirl around the internet, will it be the Z06, ZR1, or the Zora model that we see next? Details from a recent Motor Trend report via an anonymous source tip us off to what we can expect out of the 2022 C8.

According to the anonymous source, we should expect to see five different C8 models over the next four years. The Z06 is rumored to join us for 2022, while the ZR1 and PHEV models are expected in 2023. The EV model will debut in 2024, and finally, the Zora model is rumored to arrive as a 2025 model.

The Z06 will likely sport a naturally aspirated engine with a 5.5 liter flat-plane crank V8 under the hood with up to 625 horsepower. Rumor has it that optional carbon-fiber wheels will be offered with this model, along with carbon-ceramic brakes and high-performance tires. Expect the Z06 to debut with a base price in the $80,000 range. 

The Motor Trend report goes on to detail the 2023 ZR1, which will likely feature the same 5.5 liter V8 as the Z06, with some additional turbochargers. With up to 850 horsepower, this model is going to be an absolute powerhouse. Pricing will likely start in the $120,000 range with a variety of additional add-on features.

In addition to the ZR1 model, 2023 seems like it's geared up to be the Corvette fanatic's best year yet, with the likely debut of the first ever hybrid version. Also packing a 5.5 liter V8 under the rear hood, the hybrid model will sport a pair of electric motors connected to the front axel. Horsepower for the hybrid edition is predicted to be somewhere between the Z06 and ZR1, at approximately 700-HP. Base models are rumored to start at $100,000.

An all-electric model is also in the works, taking the hybrid version up a notch for the 2024 model. There will be an additional motor in the rear, along with a larger battery pack. Although details are limited right now, it's rumored that the all-electric model will pack 500 horsepower with a range of 200 miles in the $100,000+ range.

The pinnacle of the C8 series will no doubt be the 2025 Zora model. While it's been rumored for many years now, this will be the most incredible Corvette ever built. It will feature a combination of the twin-turbo V-8 engine from the ZR1 with the hybrid system of the E-Ray, producing in excess of 1,000 horsepower. Base models will start around $150,000.

The COVID-19 situation is affecting us all. For Corvette, it means that a year that was full of promises and new hope, is now not so full, but rather scarce with the rare spotting of the new mid-engine Corvette. With a trickle of the new C8s hitting the streets, it seems that the 2020 Corvette will be a bit of a rarity--and if you managed to snag one, consider yourself lucky.

COVID-19 has essentially shut down automobile production around the world, and the Corvette is no exception. The Bowling Green Assembly Plant was able to pump out just 2,700 of the new mid-engine Corvettes before they were ordered to shut down production. With high-demand and over 40,000 reservations of the new C8 last year, several owners are realizing the potential for making a massive profit on the sale of their car. 

We have limited information on when Corvette will pick back up production, and the convertible edition will likely be postponed, if not completely skipped over for 2020.

So, what does this mean if you've already reserved a 2020 C8 but have yet to receive it? Production is indefinitely delayed and there is no telling when it'll begin again.

2021 allocations will potentially begin in May and will inevitably bring some changes to the mid-engine Corvette. It was recently leaked that two additional color choices will join the lineup: Red Mist Tintcoat and Silver Flare. These will most likely replace the Long Beach Red and Blade Silver color options. 

Another potential update will be the addition of the "Stingray R" graphics package. It's been reported that it would likely replicate a C8.R race car.

Along with a few other additions, such as new available stripe patterns and colors, new interior designs for the 3LT trim level, and available carbon fiber exterior pieces, 2021 will give us all something to look forward to.

The first 2020 Corvette C8 cars are now heading to Chevy showrooms across the country. With production kicking off on February 3rd, we've been anxiously awaiting the first arrivals of the mid-engine sports car. A blurry video clip shows 4 transporters carrying 2020 Corvettes on March 4th from the Bowling Green, KY plant. 

As we close in on another year-- and another decade-- it is quite possible that 2019 was one of the biggest years yet for the Chevrolet Corvette. And we're looking at 2020 to continue the excitement surrounding the latest (and greatest) mid-engine sports car. 

Generations of Corvette lovers patiently awaited the debut of a mid-engine model. 2019 finally brought the us the 2020 mid-engine Corvette after years of false starts.

Let's recap what 2019 brought for America's favorite sports car:

• In March, we caught glimpses of what could be mid-engine speculation. We began seeing prototypes out on the road, with rumors that a the C8 mid-engine Corvette would be officially debuted during summer of 2019.
• In April, we learned that the Bowling Green Assembly Plant would add a second shift and over 400 employees to assist with the production of the Next Generation Corvette. We also confirmed that the debut of the mid-engine Corvette was set for July 18, 2019 at an unspecified event.
• Towards the end of April, GM released the C8 logo through their social media outlets, continuing the excitement surrounding the Next Generation Corvette. 
• On June 28th, the last C7 Corvette sold at auction for a whopping $2.7 million, making it the highest grossing vehicle donated by an automaker. The proceeds benefited the Stephen Siller Tunnel to Towers Foundation.
• On July 18th, we tuned in for the debut of the 2020 Mid-Engine Corvette!
• Shortly afterthe debut of the Next Generation Corvette, we received a look at the interior and exterior color options.
• By mid-August, the 2020 Corvette pricing was announced, starting at $59,995.
• In October, Chevy debuted the 2020 Corvette Convertible.

2019 was a great year for the Corvette, and we have a feeling that 2020 will be even better! We can't wait to finally see the mid-engine Corvette out on the streets. GM confirmed that the C8 start-of-production date will be in February, 2020.
